In 1979, giant fossils belonging to unknown creatures are found in the mountains near Mongolian border and a government-funded excavation endeavor is initiated, led by Professor Yang. Among the workers is Hu Bayi, a young soldier who in love with the Professor's beautiful daughter Ping. When a freak explosion collapses the excavated tunnels, the small group must trek through the mountain's treacherous bowels, only to discover a mysterious cyclopean temple which - as it soon becomes apparent — that the Professor had been actively looking for.
Construction worker Ti (Stephen Chow) lives in a ramshackle shanty and scavenges everything from shoes to toys from the trash dump. Despite his state of abject poverty, Ti is determined to send his son Dicky (Xu Jiao) to a posh private elementary school for quality education. Although the kind and pretty teacher (Kitty Zhang) spends enormous caring to Dicky, he is a lot more interested in playing than studying, and he wants nothing more than a CJ1 robot dog to show up his bullying classmate. Unable to afford a CJ1, Ti brings home "CJ7", a curious rubbery green ball he found at the dump. Dicky is not impressed until the ball shows its true alien form, morphing into a little green dog whose penchant for mischief gives even Dicky a run for his money.

The doctor and the patient were the only ones in the room, and each of them offers contradictory testimony. The case soon turns into a Rashomon-esque mystery. To up the ante further, Zhou's defense attorney is the talented Freddy (XIA Yu), who has taken over Tim's previous position at the prestigious law firm. The sharp-tongued lawyer proves to be Tim's toughest opponent to date. The media frenzy around this sexual harassment case slowly begins to destroy the lives of everyone involved, especially those of the doctors' wife Jie (QIN Hailu) and his young daughter. Tim soon realizes the cost to the truth may simply be too much to bear.
