Set in Hong Kong in the 1960s, the story revolves around the family of a hardworking shoemaker Mr Law, with his happy-go-lucky wife and two sons – a talented elder son and an eight-year-old eccentric younger son. While their lives are not always smooth-sailing, the family sticks together and support one another through thick and thin.
